Who am I?

Hi! I’m Gill. I’ve lived in Canada and abroad, spent lots of time backpacking and van-living, and worked more jobs than I can remember. I’ve been an entrepreneur, cabinetmaker, jeweller, bicycle mechanic, ice skating instructor, skydiving videographer, collections agent, and my favourite job ever: Dog dad. I live with my awesome partner, five rescue dogs, three rescue cats, albino frog, depression, anxiety, bipolar 2 disorder, and, unsurprisingly, ADHD.

Why do I write?

I’ve accumulated a lot of stories in my four decades, and I’m sharing them in the hopes of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Subscribe for free to get full access to the newsletter and website, or consider a paid subscription if you’d like to support my work and “buy” me more time to write.

Support Charlie Chews

Each and every week my partner and I buy and cook nearly 100kg of chicken and feed 500 or so shelter dogs, this in addition to the street cats we feed on a daily basis. You can help with the costs by donating to the Buy Me A Coffee page.
